Building Blocks

We failed to have a winner at either Cartmel or Hexham earlier this week but there were some promising performances from our runners with Elmono and Methodtothemadness both claiming third. It was a clear step back in the right direction from the pair of them with Methodtothemadness going down by just three lengths in a close finish and we are full of hope that they will be able to build on their encouraging runs.

We were also pleased with the reappearance efforts of Izzy’s Champion and Prince Dundee at Hexham as they both ran creditably for a long way and can be expected to improve with the outings under their belt. We were delighted with the way Champ travelled and jumped in particular and he will be suited by stepping back up in trip next time.

Katalystic was another who performed better than his eventual finishing position, sixth, would suggest as the return to three miles around a stiff track like Hexham just stretched his stamina in the closing stages, whilst Flutter Down effectively ended any chance he had in the same race when making a bad mistake at the seventh. A line can be drawn through his run.

Bayfriars Bobby was disappointing in the 3m handicap hurdle and is now set for a happy retirement with an eventing family in Inverness.

As one stable is emptied so it is filled by a flat horse, purchased at Newmarket Tattersalls sales by Mrs Kelly. Praise Of Shadows is an Exceed And Excell colt who has won over seven furlongs and run some creditable races on the all-weather. He is from the family of sires Telescope, Moon Ballad and Central Park, see his pedigree and a video of him HERE (Lot 443)
